I’m in Love!

I am in love with making scrap quilts! Almost to the point where I don’t even want to start a planned project. Which is crazy because there are some beautiful fabrics out in the world right now that I love as much as my scraps. This one was inspired by the quilt “House Top” in the book Freddy & Gwen Collaborate Again. Just beware… this method is completely addictive. Like potato chips. Only no calories.
When I started the first scrap quilt, it was a little overwhelming how many scraps I had sitting around. Even after two quilts it doesn’t feel like I’ve made much of a dent. I feel a little bit guilty about that… about all the scraps I have accumulated. Some of them date back maybe 20 years ago. Eeeks! But it has been SO incredibly satisfying to dig into the scrap bins and use up some of those scraps! Even the ugly fabrics don’t look that ugly to me any more.
This is Scrap Quilt No. 2. One more to go. The deadline is looming. There wasn’t any time available this week to rent the quilting machine.
After that… I want to make another one… and another one… maybe.
I would be in love, too, if I had created this–just gorgeous!
You are inspiring me to get to my new years goal of making some scrap quilts from my stash.
beautiful!
Oooh, I LOVE it! It looks great in those colors… I have a scrap busting goal too, and now I am inspired to make one of these housetops as well- thanks!
I love scrappy quilts and this one is no exception. I love it!! Just beautiful.
What a great quilt! Love the colors. I’ll have to try that pattern, since it looks easy enough for even me to enjoy making!
Yummy! So fresh and bright and cheerful! And what you’re saying is you have some “vintage” fabrics in your scrap quilts. 🙂
you RENT a quilting machine??? How cool would that be? What is the charge to rent a machine? I live in such a remote place I wouldn’t have access to one, but it is nice to dream!
nice quilts. i can’t wait to get back home and start working on projects again. i’ve been gone since the 23rd of December and even though I LOVE my grandchildren, I am SO ready to go home. ::grin::

So awesome. I love how scrap quilts make even the least favorite fabrics look good.
I love it! You have great scraps! :-))
OOh, I really like it! The colors are fabulous, and you’ve inspired me to dig through my mountain of scraps and use them!!
It is beautiful and so full of color! I love the border fabric in this one.
Ha! Can I have it. JK. It’s beautiful Anita. My first reaction was “July!”

OH you are SOOO going to get that third one done!!!
The quilt just makes me happy. It just exudes happy vibes. Now, is that sunshine in the photo?!! You mean it really does exist! Have a great weekend.
Fabulous! You have some darned lucky friends. I can hardly wait to see the next one.
This quilt looks wonderful! I also love scrap quilts (I’m starting another one right now!) and I’m also always amazed at how small I dent I’ve made in my scrap bins but it does accumulate. After 2 years of making alot of scrap quilts, I can see the difference!
I think I’m in love too — that quilt looks like so much fun!
Bright, happy, fun. Right now I’m addicted to making string blocks. I heart scrappiness.
It’s lovely!
I LOVE that quilt!!! It is so striking. Great job on using your scraps!!
