Walk like an Egyptian

June 1, 2012 § 4 Comments

We went to see the King Tut & the Great Pharaohs exhibit at the Pacific Science Center yesterday.  It was very interesting!   We also took the time to see the IMAX theater presentation about the Great Pharaohs and their tombs. If you are in town any time during the rest of the year, this exhibit is worth seeing.  It ends January 6, 2013.  Some of the things that amazed me were the hieroglyphics…  (They put their name on EVERYTHING.)  the amount of stuff that was buried in their multi-room tombs… that it survived thousands of years in the desert…  and the extravagance of it all.  Even the cats got their own sarcophagus. (Don’t give our cats any ideas. They are beloved, but they will not be buried in such formal extravagance)

More photos over on Flickr.

Photos above… 1) gold mask placed over King Tut’s mummy,  2) a cat sarcophagus,   3) a container that stored King Tut’s stomach (they placed each of the body’s organs in a separate container)
