Mini Party

The only other thing I have been sewing on is my doll quilt for the Doll Quilt Swap on Flickr. This time we were given some extra criteria to meet. We had to choose to include one of the following blocks (churn dash/shoofly, log cabin, drunkards path, N.Y. beauty, or flying geese) as well as include a solid that wasn’t white. For some reason I felt the need to try my hand at flying geese within a wedding ring block. Why? Because I’m crazy… I think. I’m not sure I would ever attempt this for a whole quilt! But a mini quilt is the perfect medium to try out something new. One day I do want to make a wedding ring quilt of some sort… just not this sort.
I started by drawing the block in EQ and then foundation paper piecing the arcs. The solids are Moda’s Cross Weave fabrics. I LOVE the cross weave fabrics!! And the geese, of course, are scraps.
When I had the wedding ring block sewn together, it started looking like a party was going on. The dots started to feel like confetti falling on my head.. So I added this GIANT Riley Blake ric rac that we have at work to keep that party feeling going. Now… the ric rac feels like those skinny paper streamers. Haha! Hope my partner likes a good party.
Me? I think I need a nap from all this partying. (still feeling tired, but not completely exhausted like I was)
This is perfect and I agree…certainly a party ambience! I wish it were coming to me! My birthday is tomorrow. Toni

I sure hope that party is coming to MY house! It’s perfect!
Love the mini quilt. I really does look like a party.
BTW, my browser was slow in opening your sight this morning and stopped just below the 1st board on the right in your photograph. I swore it lookd like the beautiful eye pd a horse! LOL, I think I need more tea (or maybe something strong in it!)
Love your mini quilt – it looks so happy! Your idea of a mini quilt sounds like a great challenge for our quilt guild.
Crazy fun! I love it!
Love it, it’s so cheerful and happy looking. Lucky partner! I need to save up and get EQ, more and more I see how useful it could be.
This is truly beautiful! Very dainty & delicate! Thanks for sharing!

Oh, Anita, you hit that one right out of the park. It is soooooo darn cute!!!!! Love the mix of solids and prints. The addition of the ric-rac just tops it right off. Love it!

In one word…..Amazing!
anita – that is such a gorgeous quilt – wish I was your partner !
That is definately a party! So cute. I’m with you – too much work and business for a large quilt, perfect for a small talbe topper or wall hanging. Glad you’re feeling a bit better!
[…] In return for all of my work, I received this amazing quilt from Anita at Bloomin’ Workshop: […]
I like this little quilt very much. But I have not EQ. Could you give me an idea to make the drawing of the arcs ?
Thank you very much.
This little quilt looks like fun!
I love this! Do you have a pattern for it available somewhere?
Do you sell this PP pattern? I have been trying to figure it out & I’m not any good at it!
