Myrtle the Turtle

He looked a bit nekkid and dinasaur-ish. Where’s his clothes???
Then… it appeared that Yertle was really Myrtle. (My grandmother had a sister named Myrtle) Do you like her new frock?
Myrtle needed more than one dress to wear, so another scrappy string shell was made. Here she is checking out the fava beans in the garden.
All that fresh air has Myrtle dreaming of a safari! The possibilities are endless. I hope my Scrappy Pincushion Swap partner likes Myrtle as much as I do.
Pattern – Heather Bailey’s Henrietta Turtle
She is stuffed with leftover wool batting. And the belly is pretty plump. If I made another one, I’d try to make the belly piece a little smaller, or maybe add some Lizard Litter to give it some weight & stability. And the little feet and tail are hard to stuff tight enough. All-in-all, though, the pattern is really fun. The shell possibilities are endless. It’s not attached in any way, so one could really go crazy.
