Seasons of Change

Autumn is my absolute favorite time of year! I love the leaves changing color. I love the smell in the air. I love the transition from flip flops to wool socks. I almost wish that half the year could be autumn and the other half of the year could spring, summer & winter. But seasons come and go at their own speed. And it’s good to have the change.
Today we went to the memorial service for our neighbor who passed away just a week before his 105th birthday. It was attended mostly by family and a handful of friends and neighbors. What a wonderful life he has lived! We last saw him as he was being taken for a stroll in his wheel chair wearing his favorite straw hat just a couple of days before he died. He still had his sense of humor to the very end. I can only hope that I have half of that good attitude as I grow older.
Next weekend a friend is getting married and she is SO excited! This quilt is for her. I know she doesn’t read here, so she’ll still be surprised. It is another version of the Old Red Barn Quilt-Along, Round 1. And there are at least a couple of friends expecting babies in the next few weeks. So many changes in life!
