Wrestling With Sasquatch Feet

Before felting...

Before felting...

Only the Ravelympics (Ravelry Knitting Olympics) could give someone the determination to finish such a project. The pattern was cute. The instructions were a bugger to follow. But no pattern was going to defeat me! Like any good Olympic athlete, one must push on to the finish line no matter the cost. It’s about the participating and the finishing of what was started.

Sasquatch feet could only wear these.

After felting...

Determination… sweat, blood… and tears… the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat! All are a part of the Olympics. WIP Wrestling was the event. There were 3 unfinished projects taunting and sneering. Would they ever be finished?

My shoe could fit inside!

Only Sasquatch feet could wear these.

These felted slippers are the bronze level finishers. Finished indeed, but disgracefully huge and unwearable for my modest size 7 feet. They have now been renamed Sasquatch Slippers. I know someone who has big feet who may be able to wear them.

Stay tuned for the silver and gold finishers in the 2008 Ravelympics.

Details:

Pattern – Curiously Clever Clogs by Stitch Diva Studios
Yarn – mostly Cascade 220 and something brown & unidentifiable, 2 strands knitted through-out
Needles – US size 13, just like the pattern said

Notes – I found someone on Ravelry who was actually successful with this pattern. I don’t know her foot size, but she made them for herself and lots of family members. She did knit some of the them with 1 strand of yarn and size 10 1/2 needles. If I could muster up the gumption, I would try to knit these one more time. Eh, who am I kidding? It’d take another Ravelympics to coax me into knitting this pattern again. It’s best to remove all the incriminating evidence from the house and move on.

UPDATE:

You all are cracking me up with the shoes! I’m talking about slippers and everyone wants to know about my shoes. Ok. They are by Keen. I have many different pairs by Keen and love them all. You can find these at Zappos. I think I originally bought mine at REI-Outlet.com a couple of years ago. I love REI and I love their dividend points for members. Become a member and then get an REI credit card and receive even more dividend points. We got a lot of great stuff with our dividend last year – cooler, shoes, and lots of other little things. Also, order online and have it shipped to your nearest REI retail store for free. Thanks for all the shoe love!

What slippers? I can’t take my eyes off your CUTE shoes. 😉 Congratulations on your finish though! Did I mention those are the cutest shoes?

I love those slippers! Perhaps that is what I will make for Robb & me for this upcoming Wisconsin winter. Eh? Only, our feet also, are small.

Your slippers turned out really cute! Too bad they are too big. Your shoes are adorable!!

Love the shoes, they are adorable. What are they please.

Too bad about the Sasquatch slippers. how many times did you run them through the wash? White is notorious for being a bugger to felt. I don’t know which pattern you used but the Fiber Trend Felted Clogs is a nice pattern, you may want to try that one

  • Samm says:

Do you think the slippers would felt down more??? I know white can be a problem, but I’d be tempted, myself, to run them through the process more until they fit. I love your shoes!!! What kind are they? I neeeeeeeeeeeeed them……… 🙂
Your twin who failed miserably at the July finishing projects thing…

  • polly says:
