The Great Humongous Sweater

October 2, 2007 § 1 Comment

Some of you may remember the chronicle of the Great Humongous Sweater. It was my first and lamest attempt to knit a fair isle sweater for my husband that ended up being Gianormous. It was a sad, funny, disappointing, frustrating, and learning experience.

Well… one year ago, while at the beach, the whole lot was frogged.

Last week at the beach, again, the last stitch was knit into the last remaining sleeve. I swear, if this sweater ever becomes wearable, it will truly be a miracle.

Now, ends need to woven in. Steeks need to be cut. The collar needs to be knit. Lord, I’m afraid to continue. Just so you all know… there will not be a 3rd re-knitting of this sweater. If this time doesn’t work out, it’s destined for the trash. Good-bye and good riddance. And I’m not sure I will ever try to knit fair isle again.

But if it does work out… there is this one vest that I’m dying to make. Ahem…. no pressure or anything.

§ One Response to The Great Humongous Sweater

You are too funny! I haven’t attempted Fair Isle yet and I am very afraid too. I’m told it’s one of those things you just got or you don’t. Hmmm….maybe after I finish the long list of fall and winter needs I’ll take on a Fair Isle project for next year. I mean, if I’m going to do something like that for either Jeff or I, I want it to be something that we can wear for YEARS and not something that will be of no use after we loose weight.

Go ahead, say something...
