Big Blooms Bag

A few weeks ago I made this bag that I am planning to give to a friend. I only had a fat quarter of the Big Blooms fabric by Kaffe Fassett. So I added a dotty fabric to the sides.
I used the same dotty fabric on the inside with a splash of yellow gingham on the sides.
The inspiration came from this bag I picked up at the grocery store last Christmas. The grocery store has been contracting with etsy artists to design reusable bags. I love the guy with the cat & his bicycle! If only I could get my cats to ride on my bike with me. Ha! The artist is Matte Stephens and his illustrations are fabulous!
I love the size of this bag! It is a little bigger than my Square Bag yet smaller than a regular grocery bag. The Square Bag is perfect for a sock knitting project. This bag is good for a scarf or a shawl project or a small sewing project. It seems that one can never have enough bags.
Anita, I love it! I’m also a fan of Kaffe’s beautiful big prints, perfect for this bag. Great style too, w/ the flat bottom.
No, never enough bags …. for this ol’ bag.
Never enough bags
It’s so nifty that your grocery store has been working with Etsy artlists like that. What a great idea!
I am known as the Bag Lady. I love bags in any shape or form. Love the fabric and the size looks good too. Never ever enough bags.
I just must be getting too old. I keep buying new patterns and then have so much trouble making them. I don’t know if I am losing the ability to read a pattern or they do not have the ability to write one?????? And you are right, they are just never the size I really wanted. And most do not have a zipper in the top which I really like. 😉
Bye the wau did I tell you how cute that the pink bag is, it just needs a zipper. I hate it when things fall out.
Oh I love those bags!!! I esp like that Square Bag and and saved your link of the instructions. thanks!!
Hi Anita,
I love the Big Blooms bag. Do you know where I might find a pattern for it, as I’d love to make it.
Thanks!
Hi Karen,
Unfortunately, there is no pattern. I made it up as I went, based on that small grocery bag in the third photo. The dimensions of the grocery bag are approximately 9″ wide, 7″ deep, and 11 1/2″ tall if you want to try creating your own version.
Good luck!
Anita
