Yarn Bombed
February 25, 2012 § 19 Comments
The park in the downtown area of our suburb was yarn bombed last night. It had to be last night because yesterday when I was running errands it wasn’t there. It was such a happy surprise on a dreary day like today! I want someone to come yarn bomb the tree in front of my house. And maybe the one in the back too. Can you imagine how much yarn and time it took to make these? Who ever did this… Thank you for cheering up my day!
UPDATE: Our community newspaper printed an article on the art installation called Artificial Light by Suzanne Tidwell. You can read the article here. As my mom & I drove by the park today she was putting up more “tree socks” and we got a chance to talk to her.

I love this! I live here too, and I actually saw them putting them on! It was a group of 3 or 4 women. So awesome and pretty.
What is ” yard bombed ” ? Not sure what the reason..I’m feeling kinda of stupid.
Awesome! I’ve seen some of that on lightpoles, newspaper stands, park benches in Berkeley. I think it’s such a great human touch for urban areas. I can only imagine how long it took your group to make these.
How fun! We’re yarn bombing our local library in April. The wrought iron spindles will be covered with colorfull stripes as well as some of the book carts. We’re also planning on making bookmarks to stick in all the knitting books! Such fun!!!
how did they get those tubes on the trees?
Oh wow, if trees weren’t beautiful enough. This just takes them over the top! Yay for the yarn bombers!
I’ve never heard of this. It must have taken a long time! So cool looking.
WooooooooHoooooooo! Love it! What fun =-)
That’s looking so cool! We call it knitting wildly and it’s seen more and more in parks, on statues, there was even an event to yarn bomb our biggest Zoo.
So fun to see this…I had to go read about it as I’ve never heard of it before. Just this past month we received a catalog in the mail with a bike on the cover that had been encased in knitting. I commented to my son that what a crazy thing it is. I love how it looks now that I’ve looked at some images on the Web…so fun
I’m wondering if the same people come take it off once it starts to look grimy?
just makes me smile!
I love it! It’s like a flash mob, but you don’t have to dance in public!
That is so AWESOME !!!!! Love the way the trees look
It makes me smile thank you
That is so awesome! I want to do some of my trees now.
that is wicked cool! how fun to do something so bright and cheery and unexpected! i’d love some for my trees, too.
Your photos are so colorful. How fun!!
Well, that’s interesting! I’ve never seen that before! I read a blog of yours from way back in 2010 about the Brother PQ1500S which I am about to buy and was very interested in what you like about it! I am looking forward to the straight stitch only and the larger harp as well as all the other features that are so great. Maybe my quilting will even improve!!
MAGIC MAGIC MAGIC!!! Just love it and the colour are perfect!
thea.
